Queen of Wands acts as somewhat of an introduction to the indie rocker, giving us an indication of her awesome songwriting ability, and great vocal ability, and when melded with terrific instrumentation, it makes for a great EP.
JAPANESE MORNINGS is the first step on a new journey of Jeremiah’s blending his earlier bedroom pop sound with a new flavour to make a sound that is his own.
The Wrecks take you through how to get your life back now
To say that RedHook and the supports killed it on Friday night is a massive understatement. Despite it being a seated gig, the energy from both the bands and the audience made for a super fun night, filled with awesome music and terrific performances from all three bands.
Another boring Thursday night calls for the perfect opportunity for a great night of live music and what better way to do that than having two talented bands play great sets at the Lansdowne.
Marking a return to gigs in the Warehouse at the Cambridge Hotel, The Buoys return to Newcastle with a bang supported by local favourites Mission: Banana.
This is punk. It is honest, relentless and draws both social criticism and reflection. The type of music that makes you sit back and think about the world around you.
This past weekend the Civic Theatre played host to a fantastic lineup of Newcastle’s finest bands all thanks to Newcastle Music Collective. It’s a beautiful venue to enjoy live music at, the way the stage lights illuminate the ceiling is grand.
Josh is an anthem of self love and taking the steps to look after yourself when an ex won’t leave you alone.
The song is a summery, synth-filled indie dance track. Think Catfish and The Bottlemen meets Passion Pit meets The Jungle Giants. A perfect combination proving that the boys from Good Lekker are an absolute powerhouse; a force to be reckoned with.
The Rubens feel like they’re finally settled into their groove on this album. While not every track is a get out of your seat and dance song, they are all very well thought out and deserve individual attention. All in all, 0202 is The Rubens’ most adventurous and most complete album yet, with a track list that will be sure to become a fan favourite into the future.
‘Gemini’ is Lili Crane’s first 2021 release, after the release of her debut EP ‘In My Head’ in 2020, and 2019 singles ‘Don’t Take My Mask Off’, ‘Drama Queen’ and ‘Stay Forever’, a track that gained quite a lot of success. Gemini seems to display an angst and sound that shows Lili’s progression from a young artist, into a mature and self-aware musician.
White Noise is everything the music industry at this point of time has been missing, and it is certain that Second Idol are taking the industry by storm. It’s a strong and powerful song that will get stuck in your head, leaving you in a state of rebellion.
We moved around a lot there, it’s funny to think about all the different houses and the different stages of my life in each space
There’s a lot of trial and error, back and forth, and about 20 versions of the song before we got to the final version that we stuck with, whether it was the intertwining melodies that were too distracting or having to remove one or two things. It’s the trial and error that makes the process an arduous journey, but in the end a rewarding one.
I have issues confronting my true feelings in some situations… I need something that gets everything down in black and white.
I remember singing but I could hear everyone else singing the lyrics cos they new the song, which was crazy like I almost felt like I should stop singing and just let them sing it.
People who have seen us live will know that we like to crack jokes and have a fun time. There’s also a bit of political commentary, and I think that it’s the first time that we’ve tried to tap in and write songs with a bit more of an introspective look at how politics affects us opposed to how the world around us affects us, and how we all fit into the that world in a bit more depth.
