‘Hey Jan’ is a fresh and local band to the Newcastle music scene; supplying a new sound with the release of their promising EP. The four-piece act takes you on a beautiful, mellow journey, taking your attention away from everything other than their music.
The album is undoubtably well structured and written. Her soulful, jazzy pop blend is a mood lifting remedy even when she talks about darker themes. It takes you on a positive journey of self-discovery as we experience alongside her; first love.
Sold For Sale is an EP that will only become more meaningful with time. Each track is like a spyglass into Didirri’s inner workings.
The band really opens up with a lot of honesty and personality in the songs, diving into past relationships and experiences, and expressing it in a way that’s not only raw, but also empathetic and relatable.
In my listening of this EP I am thoroughly impressed with the diversity of sound and lyric for each track. It is incredible the amount of talent Elmo has for taking their listeners on a unique journey each time.
It’s safe to say that is one of the best releases from an Australian Artist in 2020.
